Facebook buys GIPHY

Facebook will integrate GIPHY on Instagram offering more creative options to their users.

The world's largest GIFS platform joins Instagram

In a recent statement and with the aim of giving more creative options to its users, the company founded by Mark Zuckerberg has explained that it has acquired GIPHY.

This is a strategic move since Facebook has pointed out that 50% of GIPHY traffic comes from the different applications of the group, and half comes directly from Instragram.

In this way, joining Instagram and GIPHY users will be able to find the perfect GIFs and stickers for stories and direct messages.

What will happen with GIPHY tools?

It should be noted that in the statement it is clear that the tools will continue to be available to developers and, in fact, they do not rule out forming new associations in the near future. However, they will strengthen the API technology that makes it possible to integrate with Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram.

"GIFs and stickers give people meaningful and creative ways to express themselves. We see the positivity in how people use GIPHY in our products today, and we know that bringing the GIPHY team’s creativity and talent together with ours will only accelerate how people use visual communication to connect with each other."
